Portland House, Cape York, your premier destination in Iron Range

Portland House, Cape York is a unique 'retro' beach house accommodation experience in one of the last great lowland rainforest and wilderness areas.  Our beachfront holiday house can be an ideal family getaway, a romantic retreat, or a haven for natural history enthusiasts, birdwatchers and photographers.

Portland House will provide a natural, quiet setting for everyone to relax. 

 

Comfort with airconditioned bedrooms

There are 4 bedrooms at Portland House all with airconditioning and ceiling fans.

Whether you are a couple or a group of friends, you have exclusive use of Portland House during your stay. 

Our bedrooms are set up to cater for 1- 4 couples, or 6 singles utilising two twin rooms.  Let us know when you book how you would like the house set up.

 

 

Large open plan living areas

Enjoy cool breezes and breathtaking views of the Coral Sea from the open-plan living and patio areas.  Relax in the hammock on the patio, read a book in the lounge, or enjoy a cool drink in the Mediterranean Courtyard.  There is ample reading material and games supplied to keep the whole family entertained.

The kitchen has an extensive range of cooking utencils along with a large capacity fridge/freezer and full size gas stove. A coffee machine is provided for your enjoyment, along with plunger coffee and a range of herbal teas to get you going in the morning.

 

 

 

Mediterranean Courtyard

The Mediterranean style courtyard at the rear of the house is a great place to enjoy an afternoon drink with friends, or alfresco dining while creating and cooking your gourmet pizzas in the wood fired Pizza Oven, or simply cooking a Snag on the Barbie.

 

 

 

Meals and Pantry Service

Meals and pantry service are also available upon request from our famous Portland Roads "Out of the Blue" Cafe, located just next door. 

We are happy to provide takeaway lunches, romantic picnics, or perhaps indulge you with our signature Seafood Platter for dinner.
