Contents & Features
Portland House features a small kitchen, with a gas fridge/freezer and
gas stove/oven.
In the backyard is a unique hand-made wood fired pizza oven and bbq
facility. Instructions for use are provided in the Portland House book.
Portland House is a television free zone.
For your pleasure you may have the full use of my private library which
contains a selection of reading material including natural history,
fauna
and flora,
African
birds,
National
Geographic, Australian Geographic, New Yorker, Vogue etc. Games include
chess, backgammon, scrabble and tropical boules.
Music includes a selection of classical, jazz and modern CDs.

Alcohol restrictions
Carriage
of personal alcohol supplies is permitted from Cairns to Portland Roads,
via the Cape York Peninsular Development Road and the Portland Roads Road
from the Archer River turnoff. It is also permitted on the road to Chili
Beach.
However, you are not permitted to carry alcohol into the Lockhart River aboriginal community. Please consider this when planning your fuel stops. You are not permitted to carry alcohol by airplane via Lockhart River airport. More updated information and maps are available from the Queensland Government website.
